From Youth Voices to Action: NAYO Inspires at the CSO Regional WASH Exchange in Zambia

NAYO joined regional CSOs working in East and Southern Africa for the Regional Exchange on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) that was organized by the Zambia WASH Forum to advance the realization of the right to water and sanitation for all. CSO participants were drawn from Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. The meeting promoted the sharing of learning and collaborative action towards achieving sustainable WASH services for all. During the three-day meeting, NAYO shared its work to advance the Right to Water utilizing the AAAQ Framework - Availability, Accessibility, Acceptability, and Quality, a human rights-based framework to advance socio-economic rights. The work with the Youth Water and Climate Justice Hubs; campaign work on #ClaimYourWaterRights; engagement of elected and public officials involved in the delivery of WASH services and liaison with the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) toward the realization of the right to water and sanitation. CSOs created a Regional East and Southern Africa (RESA) strategy to advance the right to water and sanitation.
